Best Crash Diets
Generally, fast diets have notoriously had a bad reputation throughout the years as one plan or program after another touts dubious claims of rapid weight loss in a relatively fast time. Doctors and healthcare professionals have routinely warned dieters about the negative effects of losing weight too quickly and how it affects many parts of the body.
However, even the most health conscious individuals have often found themselves needing to lose a few pounds as soon as possible and are tempted by the promises of rapid weight loss.
Despite warnings, and also the knowledge that the best way to becoming fit and healthy is through gradual weight loss that will be most likely to keep the pounds off in the long run, crash diets are routinely looked to as the answer for a quick fix.
Luckily, not every single crash diet is created equal, and it is up to us to discern and find out which method would be best for us, and which one can be modified to make it a bit healthier, while remaining just as effective at causing weight loss.
All Liquid and Soup Crash Diets
Different from the simple twenty four to forty eight hour fast to cleanse and detoxify the system, while drinking nothing but water, liquid crash diets usually involve either a three, five, or seven-day plan of drinking a certain juice, or eating nothing but soup.
Eating cabbage soup for a week and nothing else, the cabbage soup diet, has been popular as a fast diet for many years. However, the extremely low daily limit of 700 calories does not include enough nutrients, which in turn makes vitamin supplements a necessity.
While technically in its raw form, the components of a simple salad are not liquid, however, lettuce and cucumbers are both comprised of nearly all water. Following such an argument, salads instead of a normal meal should encourage weight loss, while providing required vitamins and minerals in the process.
Crash Diets and Exercise
One of the greatest drawbacks of all crash diets is, that none of them emphasize the importance of physical activity, and why it’s so very necessary to incorporate exercise into your weekly routine.
Exercising while on a diet plan is the best way to ensure you will be benefiting your overall health, and not just your outward appearance. The heart and the lungs need the extra oxygen from this regular exercise to function properly, and even more so when losing weight, as every organ is working overtime. This is either to compensate for the lack of calories, or simply in response to the actual loss of weight. Exercise doesn’t necessarily have to mean many hours spent in the gym, but rather simply making walking a part of daily life, increasing the time and walking speed as you build stamina.
Whether it is an upcoming wedding, your high school reunion, or just getting closer to bathing suit season, there’s no doubt that following a crash diet will most certainly cause you to lose weight. However, it is up to you to make sure that this isn’t merely water weight, or precious lean muscle mass, and that you’ll also be able to continue either losing more weight, or be able to maintain your current weight.
Whether you want to lose weight quickly or over a longer time, and want to do it in a healthy way, it is a good idea to read a few diet reviews before deciding which option to take.
