Hi I'm Michelle with the fruit doctor, and I've been doing a lot of studying on the gut microbiome, and after last video some of you had asked you'd like to know which foods feed your healthy good gut bacteria. So we're going to be talking about in this video which foods feed our healthy bacteria and we kind of covered a little bit in a few videos back about ulcerative colitis, and which foods actually feed the bad gut bacteria. But there's a couple foods that actually selectively not only feed the good bacteria, but then they also because of this it creates kind of a a healthy of bacteria in your gut of the good kind, and they literally kill off and keep at bay some of these bacterial strains that are not as good for us.
Now keep in mind all of us have got you know some of these unhealthy bacteria lurking around in our bodies, just like we all have cancer cells in our bodies as well. What matters is what proportion these strains are in, and when they get out of balance is when we have problems, so you know it's just like with water you know, if we get too little water we get dehydrated, and people can actually die of dehydration, and if we get too much water we can actually drown. Same thing with air, if we get too much air we hyperventilate, we can pass out if we get too little air from being strangled or whatever, we also can pass out from lack of oxygen.
So you know we find in in the natural world that there's a balance that needs to be kept in with the microbiome, what they're finding with genetics is that that balance might be different for every person, but nonetheless they are finding certain trends and certain patterns.
So this is a field of research that's in its infancy, and as they continue getting more and more samples for things like the American gut project and...
